Feature Request: Enable glucose predictions and bolus recommendations when no pod is paired
Summary
When no pod is active (e.g., during transitions, expiry, or faults), Loop currently disables glucose predictions and bolus recommendations. This hinders informed manual dosing, despite valid CGM and IOB data being available.
Problem
Users between pods are unable to get algorithmic guidance on manual carb or insulin dosing during a high-stress, time-sensitive period. Withholding this data makes an already inconvenient process more difficult to manage safely.
Desired Behavior
- Maintain the predicted glucose curve and offer bolus recommendations even when no pod is paired.
- Preserve existing conservative behavior for "stale data" scenarios where a pod is paired but temporarily unreachable.
Why This Matters
Pod changes and unexpected faults are frequent. Providing access to existing IOB and CGM-based predictions during these gaps empowers users to make safer, more informed manual decisions when the automation is offline.
