Sets (registration) not saving between sessions (win64 vst)

Hello,

Great sounding organ synth!

I'm using the win64 vst (Aeolus.dll) inside of Ableton 12 Lite on Windows 10.

The sets (1-32 sequencer steps) for registration are not getting saved between sessions. They only save while the plugin is loaded.
Reverb does not save, and the master limiter option does not save.

The only thing that seems to save is the tuning scale and the UI scaling factor.

I tried adding the organ_config.json to the Documents folder but that didn't work.

Any help appreciated!

Hi,
I would like some clarification on this. When you save your Ableton project and then open it back, the sequencer (buttons 1..32 at the bottom) do not contain the stops like you set them before saving?
What exactly do you mean by "They only save while the plugin is loaded"? When plugin is not loaded, there is nothing to be saved. You have to save your Ableton project with the plugin in it, and this saved project will contain then all the settings you've done to the plugin.

You don't need to copy organ_config.json anywhere - this is only if you want to make your custom stops. By default you only need to copy Aeolus.vst3 into yourt plugins folder.

To debug this:

• Could you please confirm you are using the latest version (0.3.0) of the plugin?
• Can you use VST3 (https://github.com/Archie3d/aeolus_plugin/releases/download/v0.3.0/Aeolus-vst3-win64-0.3.0.zip) rather than VST (VST2 is not mained anymore and I provide it only for users with old DAWs that cannot use VST3)
• Have you tried any other DAW (like Reaper for example) to see whether the project state gets saved correctly?

Oh, I see how it works now. I thought they were saved to the plugin persisently. (like a synth preset)

Yes, saving an ableton project does actually save the registations as entered in the seqeuncer steps.

Would it also make sense for each sequencer step to store and recall the volume for each manual, as well as the main output level? (rather than treat those levels as global)

No, not really. Organ's sequencer records only the stops configuration. The volumes you can control via external MIDI controllers (like pedals) and those are global regardless of your stops arrangement. If you need to store and recall global parameters you'd use DAW for this, as it can create plugin parameters presets.

Sequencer is mostly useful for live performance to quickly navigate between stops configurations. When used as a plugin, it becomes somewhat redundant, since you can store and recall the stops config by the DAW, or have multiple instances of the plugin each configured differently.
