The Python bindings for ArcadeDB 26.11.1 are out, and they are now ArcadeDB's official Python packages, developed in ArcadeData/arcadedb-python. They come as two packages. Both import as
arcadedband have the same API, so you install one of them:arcadedbis the native build and the default. The ArcadeDB engine is compiled with GraalVM native image into a library that runs inside your Python process, with no JVM and no JPype, so it starts quickly and keeps its memory small. It suits scripts, notebooks, tests, command-line tools, serverless functions and agents.arcadedb-jvmruns the Java engine in your process with a bundled Java 25 runtime, so you install no Java. It suits heavy, long-running loads, where the JIT compiler pays off over time, and code that works with the Java objects. The wheels cover Linux x86-64 and arm64, macOS on Apple Silicon and Windows x86-64, for Python 3.11 to 3.14; the native wheel also installs on 3.15. Each wheel is about 62 to 65 MiB (61.6 to 65.1), for both packages. The docs are at docs.arcadedb.com/arcadedb-python, and Which package? helps you choose.
If you used
arcadedb-embedded: that package was the JVM build, and 26.11.1 is its last release. It is now a small shim that installsarcadedb, the native build, and warns once at import. To keep the JVM runtime, runuv remove arcadedb-embeddedanduv add arcadedb-jvm; for the native build,uv add arcadedb. In both cases writeimport arcadedbwhere you wroteimport arcadedb_embedded. Users ofarcadedb-embedded-nativemove toarcadedb. The old repository, humemai/arcadedb-embedded-python, will be archived. The bindings were started at HumemAI and now live next to the engine. Thanks to Luca Garulli and Roberto Franchini for the reviews and merges that made the move possible. Issues and pull requests are welcome at ArcadeData/arcadedb-python.
